SLWS 16th Annual Juried Exhibition Opening Reception April 17th

Please enjoy some photos from last night's opening reception of our 16th Annual Juried Exhibition at Creative Art Gallery.  It was a wonderful evening, and we thank Tom Lynch for being present at our opening reception after conducting a week long workshop.  Lynch was honored to be our judge this year and spoke about the criteria he used in selecting the show -- how he tried to "listen" to what a painting had to say as he viewed the submissions, and then finally drew on his technical training to make the award selections.  Impressed with the artwork he reviewed, he encouraged everyone to continue painting and not let being left out of the show discourage them.  He said it is always hard to cut off selections for a show based on the number allowed, leaving some out that he would have liked to include.  Lynch selected a wonderful collection of paintings this year that showcase the talent and diverse styles of the artists included, and the gallery did an excellent job of presenting the show with delicious refreshments enjoyed by all.

We also want to apologize for failing to acknowledge Katherine Jo Moore as one of our new Signature status members this year.  We thank her for bringing this to our attention last night at the gallery.  As hard as we try, our master records are voluminous and mistakes occur, so please continue to help us by bringing things to our attention.  Kathy we congratulate you and hope you take pride in your accomplishment.
