Fall Classes at the Missouri Botanical Garden

Judy Seyfert's Garden Classes Fall 2010
Watercolor:  Painting With An Artist’s Eye
It is never enough to just copy the images around us.  To make a painting have impact, artists must enhance the ordinary to make it extraordinary.  Through design and expressive use of color, Judy will show you how to open your “artist” eye to visualize possibilities and creative interpretations in your own art work.  This class is intended for artists of all levels who have some experience in watercolor and would like to further explore the medium.   Intermediate to advanced.
Starts September 17, 2010   9:30-noon:  8 weeks

Exploring Watercolor
Take time to indulge your creative side and join with other students exploring watercolor. Judy will demonstrate simple techniques for making impressive paintings.  She will guide students through group and individual instruction, emphasizing a new skill each week.  Students will learn how to design and paint their own paintings in a fun and encouraging environment.   Beginning to Intermediate
Starts Monday, September 13, 2010   Evenings 6 -8:30:  Five Weeks

Interpreting the Landscape in Watercolor
Where ever you look there is a landscape just waiting to be painted.  It can be overwhelming to the artist.  This class is designed to give you the tools to confidently interpret the landscape in watercolor.  Students will learn to simplify, edit and design their own paintings. Some of the topics will include painting landforms such as rocks and mountains, atmospheric skies, and water such as lakes and rivers.  Basic watercolor techniques will be covered the first class.  All levels welcome.
Starts Saturday, October 23, 2010:  9:30 – Noon:  No class Thanksgiving weekend.

Watercolor Rescue (January, 2011)
Lost interest and feeling uninspired about your art?  Are you in an “artistic slump”? Take a journey and make peace with your art and paintings.  This is a unique class for watercolor artists to engage in a little “art therapy” to jump start your creativity.  It is also a time to bring in your problem paintings and together we will try to pass the hurdles to fix them.  This class is for artists of all levels who have watercolor experience.
Starts Fridays, January 14, 2011: 10 am to 1:00pm 4 weeks
