Watercolor Classes with Judy Seyfert

Location: Missouri Botannical Garden

A Taste of Watercolor
Saturday, February 27, 2010, 1- 3:30
This class is designed for the beginners or artists who need a refresher course.  It is not for those of you who have had a Garden class with me.  If you have any friends who would enjoy a “taste” of watercolor tell them about it.  Paint, paper and a simple palette are provided.

Watercolor Essentials:
 Class dates are eight Fridays, 9:30-noon: March 5, 12, 19, 26; April 9, 16, 23, 30
 No class April 2
The true beauty of watercolor lies in its explosion of color and luminosity every time water is added to paint. Dramatic effects can be conjured up from a puddle of water with a limited palette of just eight colors. In this class the emphasis will be on techniques such as applying glazes, achieving value contrast and implementing design principles. Judy has developed a unique teaching style which stimulates enthusiasm, confidence and creativity in her students. The class is designed to inspire beginners and challenge experienced students through demonstrations and personal instruction.

Watercolor Pure and Simple:

Six Saturdays, April 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 22; There is no class May 15th (The Chinese Festival is that weekend)
Everywhere we look there is inspiration for a painting.  Getting from the inspiration to the finished painting is a wonderful journey. With this goal in mind, Judy will demonstrate how to use design and color to paint impressive watercolors. Group and individual instruction will be given to encourage self expression and experimentation. Beginning or experienced watercolorists will find this a fun and exciting journey into creativity.

The Garden will have the classes on line by February 1st.  (Taste of Watercolor is online now.) To register go to www.mobot.org/classes   The phone number to reach them is 314-577-5140.

In June I will be teaching an advanced watercolor portrait class at the Maria Center.  By advanced, I mean students need to have basic watercolor experience.  The class will be held on two consecutive Wednesdays (June 2, 9) from 9 am to 3 pm.    Registration is done through me not the Garden.  The Maria Center is run by the Sisters of Notre Dame.  It is a beautiful facility overlooking the Mississippi River.  I need a minimum of ten students.  I will limit the class to 15 though.  Their address is 336 E. Rippa, St. Louis MO 63125.  It is on the same campus as Notre Dame High School.  To give you a better idea of where it is located, it is right next to Jefferson Barracks.

***Please note, I am changing my email address (again).  The new address is judyseyfert.art@gmail.com.
