A message from JoanLee's daughter:
Most of you will be aware by now that on 23 January, 25 months after her initial terminal cancer diagnosis, Mom died peacefully in her sleep. She fought a good fight and was remarkably active for much of the time she was fighting her illness, really only becoming bed-ridden in her final two weeks.
I hope as many of you as possible will join Joanlee's friends and family for a memorial mass in the chapel at Villa Duchesne, 801 S. Spoede Rd., St. Louis, 63131. The service will be on 12 March, which would have been Mom's 71st birthday. Please come help us to celebrate Joanlee's life and to remember her contributions to the lives of so many others. If you're out of town, you can post something on Mom's Facebook page (I'm maintaining it until after the service) or send a reply to this message, which I can include in messages at the service.
We'll serve some light snacks and drinks afterward. If you're thinking about coming, please let me know so I can get some sense of numbers.
Another way to show your love and support for Joanlee, and to have something wonderful to remember her by, is to bid on one of her paintings in our charity auction. We're donating the majority of her work to Villa, with proceeds from the auction to support art education there. You can see what's up for bid at
http://joanleeauction.blogspot.com
To bid, either put a comment on the blog under the appropriate painting, or send me an email. Bids close at 6pm on the 12th of March.
Thanks to all of you for your support through Mom's illness. We've dealt with the bad times. Now let's come together to celebrate a wonderful life.
Ellen
