Watercolor - Evening Session
Join artist Linda J. Green-Metzler to de-mystify the process of 
watercolor painting.  Learn to draw, compose, and apply water-based 
media for exciting presentation of a wide range of subject matter.  
Solve the fascinating puzzle of transforming a white sheet of paper 
into your unique perception of the world around you. Fundamentals of 
design, color and line will be taught according to each student’s 
unique vision though group exercises, individual subject selection, 
and strategies to create finished paintings. Experience the joy.

Beginning to Intermediate Watercolor, Mondays Jan. 10 - 31, Feb. 7 -28, March 7 - 28, April 4 - 25^th. 9 - 12 a.m. Not only learn the basics, but how and when to use various techniques, and learn to discover “why not”, and “how far can I take watercolors”. Discover the creative side, by including that extra ingredient for dynamic richness that the media has to offer.

Oil/Acrylic, Mondays, 1:30 - 4:30p.m. Jan. 10 - 31, Feb. 7 - 28, March 7 - 28, April 4 - 25^th. Your choice of media, or both. Learn the basics along with many extra bits of information to create very rich and creative paintings. Applications include all prima to transparent glazes.

Pastels. Thursday evenings, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Jan.6 - 27^th, Feb. 3 - 24, March 3 - 24, and March 31 - April 21^st. Discover the beauty of pastels, and the vibrant colors, whether in skins tones, or that beautiful autumn scene. Use layering, over toned surface, paint with pastels to cover the surface completely, then highlight with the softest buttery pastels.

Linda will demonstrate in all of the classes. A variety of subject matter will be used, along with many techniques. Various color schemes will be used to create vibrant and dynamic finished work. Discussions will include basic composition, value, color and temperature balance.

Classes are in four week sessions at a fee of $125.00 per session, payable at the first class in each session. The classes are on going and each class will add building blocks of information and techniques to advance your painting.

Handel's Messiah

A bit of editorial license here.  This is not related to art or SLWS, but I want to share with you this uplifting piece, that spans all religious persuasions and may give you a boost of heart during this busy time.  Enjoy Handel's Messiah in a "Flash Mob" setting.  (A flash mob is just what you will see here; an unexpected explosion of song or other actions.)  Turn up your volume.

Mary has had 2 paintings accepted into the Art St. Louis exhibition, "Eye of the Beholder". 

 The show runs from Jan 17 - Feb 24 with an opening on Jan 22  
from 6 - 8 pm.
The works are "Three Geisha" and "Four Japanese Maple Leaf Prints"
