Have you seen the Showboat?

This is the Saint Louis Watercolor Society Showboat kiosk, currently housed at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles.  The Foundry Art Centre is a dynamic, busy, venue with monthly exhibitions, classes, resident artists, and rental functions.  Our kiosk is always prominently displayed in the main gallery.  See their website click here.

We Are Jazzed up!

Saint Louis Watercolor Society February Program
By Barbara Martin Smith, SLWS

Jazz and Abstract Expressionism
Impressions, Improvisations, Compositions

Both Jazz and Abstract Expressionism are uniquely American Art Styles reliant on confident impressions, improvisations, and compositions. The focus of the February SLWS program will be on slide viewing while making connections between themes in jazz and painting as well as stories of the artists and their work.  Examples and explanations of some approaches to originating visual forms with my students will help connect the energy of Abstract Expressionism with the complex realities of the creative process. Additionally, I will share some recent watercolors where I have tried to apply some of these ideas.

Are you a Kandinsky?  Will the music move you?  Come see!

Wednesday Evening Painters

Also known as Watercolor Self-help Society.  We are having fun at Lindbergh High School, Wednesdays, 7-9 PM through Feb.  8-10 of us have met to just paint and visit, braving some fog and slush.  The room is very accomodating, up to 15 can paint in comfort.  Suzanne provides music and we just paint our own thing at our own pace.  We set up a still life to share last week.

So come join us any Wednesday in February.  ($4 contribution to rental expense.)  From the Lindbergh HS main entrance at the stoplight, turn right in the parking lots and we are there in the first building on the right, first floor, room 103.

Here are some pics Suzanne Galli Koenen took of last week's session.  Thanks, Suzanne!
