Mary Ellen Shortland, Aug 27, 1944 - Jun 17, 2015
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our patron of 16 years, Mary Ellen Shortland, owner of Creative Art Gallery and Framing, who passed away on June 17th. Mary Ellen gave the Saint Louis Watercolor Society their start in the St. Louis area for our first Annual Juried Exhibition and hosted us through the years with great success on both our parts. Her acumen for talent and her ability to read her client's wishes made for a win win situation and a most wonderful collaboration for many years. We will miss you, Mary Ellen.

Our Little Haven Mural Project
We would like to acknowledge the Saint
Louis Watercolor Society members and friends who are repainting the mural on Our Little Haven's building, originally created 16 years ago by SLWS volunteers. The paint had faded on the original artwork
so Our Little Haven reached out to the SLWS for help in refreshing it. Kathy Moore was the first to answer the call
for help and Gerry Klein joined her in organizing the effort. With a nice photo of the wall on poster board, Kathy Moore presented the call for help to the membership at our last meeting, and the project got off the ground.
Last week Kathy Moore, her husband
Jim Moore, Bryan Fuch, one of Kathy Moore’s employees, Barb Liebman, Gerry
Klein, Pam Ponder, a friend of Gerry Klein’s, Sandy Baker, Mary Mosblech, Karen
Papin, and Mike, an employee of Our Little Haven, worked on the mural.
Milk paint colors and clear finish materials
were generously donated by General Finish Company, owner Tom Monaham.
They are water based products. Try them out!

Chris Munoz from Our Little Haven wrote the following after our members worked on the wall for several days:
“We are so grateful for the painting. We had a staff gathering last Friday morning
outside and everyone was enjoying how much better the playground looks with the
colors. Thank you so much.”
Here are some photos of the wall's progress and the volunteers working.
