Member donations appreciated in Haiti

SLWS member Jim Shelton reports:

" I made it to Haiti the first week of June...

I delivered about 40 pounds of STLWS donated art supplies to Father Tijwa of Immaculate Conception in Milot for his art programs.  I basically took the best, most usable items (paints, brushes, paper, palettes) and still have some more to take on a future trip (I had a baggage/weight issue).

Father Tijwa thanks the membership for their donation of supplies at an SLWS meeting.  – he was overwhelmed."

Sign up for our Kiosk at the Foundry

"We need artists for the AUGUST THROUGH SEPTEMBER exhibition space at the Kiosk at the Foundry in St. Charles. This is our space and a wonderful opportunity to display our work and promote the Saint Louis Watercolor Society.  The live area is about 40" wide and 60" tall, just right to showcase your work with your bio, artist statement and prices. No frames are allowed but mats are required.  All the work is hung with velcro and displayed behind the large plexi glass of the display. The fee is $20 and the Foundry takes a 35% commission on any sold work.

We would love to have you!  If you have done it before, you can certainly do it again. Contact Maggie McCarthy at mccarthyart@att.net or 636-724-5968. She can answer all you questions, sign you up and she will be there to help you hang your work. EASY!  If you want to hang later in the year, Maggie can sign you up for those times, too.  She's waiting to hear from you!"

All 3 sides are shown in this photo.  This is a great time of year to display your work as there will be a lot of summer traffic.

Quiller Demo Painting

At our workshop with Stephen Quiller in March, he gave an evening demo to non-students.  He was unable to finish the piece but promised to do so and send a copy to us.  And he did, and he says it is sold!  Here is the finished work.  Stunning!
