Magazine Article about Art Trends Exhibit
Signature watercolor show features local artists
By SHEILA FRAYNE RHOADES
A rare opportunity awaits the public in Chesterfield. The works of 48 watercolor artists – all of them local artisits and some who are nationally known – now are on exhibit at Art Trends Gallery (703 Long Road Crossing Drive, Suite 1), site of the Saint Louis Watercolor Society Signature Member Show. Ninety pieces of art are on display.
The exhibit provides art enthusiasts the chance to view and purchase quality watercolor paintings created by members of the Saint Louis Watercolor Society. The show opened on June 4 and originally was scheduled to run only through the end of June, but it has met with such success that it has been extended until July 30.
“Watercolor is the hardest form of painting to master, because the artist can’t cover up mistakes,” said Nancy Dorwart, manager of Art Trends Gallery. “Watercolors come from the heart and hand. The observer must really get up close and personal with the painting.”
A closing reception for the exhibit will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Fri., July 30. Admission is free, and those attending will have the chance to meet personally with the artists while enjoying wine and cheese. Watercolor paintings will be on sale for the duration of the exhibit. “I urge the public to come see these fantastic paintings now, because when they’re gone, they’re gone,” Dorwart said.
Exhibit hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Art Trends Exhbition
Thanks to Linda Green/Metzler, we are going to get some feature press on our show at Art Trends Gallery in Chesterfield. An article about our watercolor exhibit will be appearing in WestNews Magazine, Friday, July 23rd, written by feature writer Sheila Rhoades.
Hopefully, because of the article we will be able to get a second, more widely diverse crowd to attend the closing event at the gallery 6-9 PM on Friday, July 30th. (refreshments will be provided by SLWS) Artists are encouraged to attend and meet the public, who will be informed that the artists will be there, before they retrieve their work at the end of the reception.
If you are unable to attend the closing reception, you may retrive your work August 2nd.
