Illinois Rodeo Exhibit Opportunity

Saint Louis Watercolor Society members have been invited to participate in the Art Show and Sale at the Gateway Regional Rodeo in Caseyville, IL, June 12-13, 2010.  For your donated painting (proceeds to benefit Food Outreach  and St. Louis Effort for Aids)  you will have an 8x8 space in their tent for the 2 days of the rodeo where you may sell your work.  Details and entry form are posted here.  Just right-click to see the printable versions.

Now Showing - Pilot House Exhibition

The current Pilot House Exhibition at First Bank Des Peres, Manchester Rd at Weideman, features works by Barb Wagamon, Rosie Phillips and Linda Hammelman.  This beautiful light-filled venue is a fine show case for larger paintings.  Stop in and take a look!  This show will be in place through July 20.   Thanks to Barb Wagamon for these great photos.

Invite your family and friends to the show!

Our 11th Annual Juried Exhibition is selected, by juror Judy Morris, and is going up this week.  Our opening reception is Friday evening, 6-8.  In case you missed the email with the e-invite, here it is again.  Just right-click copy and save to your computer, then send as attachment, or insertion, to your friends, family and clients.  Also please read the detour instructions.  It's a little complicated this year.  Creative Art Gallery personnel are going to put extra signs up Friday to help folks find their way.



Due to recent and temporary road construction on the Arsenal Street bridge, detours have been planned for accessing Creative Art Gallery by the St. Louis City Street Dept. These route changes will be in effect between February 25th and May 21st 2010.
Alternate routes are as follows:

from 44 west:
1- Exit at Arsenal, make right onto arsenal.
2- At light, make left onto Jamieson. Continue on Jamieson to Fyler.
3- At Fyler make left. Continue on Fyler to Watson.
4- At Watson make left. Continue on Watson to Bradley (first street on left).
5- At Bradley make left. Continue 1 block to Ivanhoe Avenue.
Address is 3232 Ivanhoe Avenue

from 44 east:
1- Exit at Jamieson. Make right onto Jamieson.
2- At Fyler make left. Continue on Fyler to Watson.
3- At Watson make left. Continue on Watson to Bradley (first street on left).
4- At Bradley make left. Continue 1 block to Ivanhoe Avenue.

from 40 east or west:
1- Exit at McCausland. Head south on McCausland to Arsenal.
2- Make left at Arsenal.
3- Make right onto Jamieson. Continue on Jamieson to Fyler.
4- At Fyler make left. Continue on Fyler to Watson.
5- At Watson make left. Continue on Watson to Bradley (first street on left).
6- At Bradley make left. Continue 1 block to Ivanhoe Avenue.

What a busy week!

We have so much going on this week!  Tuesday night will be our regular membership meeting, with Muriel Eulich presenting "Loosen Up Art Therapy".  Following the meeting, we will proceed to CJ Muggs, Webster Groves for the quarterly exhibit switch.  Out-going, "Squares", In-coming, "Warm Days, Cool Nights", tropical theme.  The CJ Muggs venue will also be open Wednesday morning from 9-10 am if you are not able to come Tuesday night.

Also Wednesday morning our Pilot House exhibit, at First Bank Des Peres will switch.   If you are involved, you have already been contacted by Mary Mosblech.   There are still openings for the October placement so call Mary to sign up.

Friday and Saturday find us at Creative Arts Gallery and Framing, to enter our 11th Annual Juried Exhibition.

All of the details regarding rules and times are in your May newsletter or on our website.  I personally am entering all 3 so I will share with you the results of my afternoon of framing.  (Note, one is empty and that one will be retrieved from CJ Muggs and re-framed for Creative.)

11th Annual Juried Exhibit

Here it is again….Springtime in St. Louis, 
and I’m ready for some plein air painting.

Four Opportunities for Workshops:
       Monday, May 3rd  --  Fenton
       Tuesday, May 11th  --Tower Grove Park
       Tuesday, May 18th –- Kirkwood Train Station
       Tuesday, May 25th --  Forest Park

All locations with the exception of Tower Grove Park, have restaurants nearby. But, of course, you may want to pack a lunch to maximize your painting time. This season’s focus will be on values, overlapping, silhouettes, and some compositional devices. Morning Demonstration and warm up pep talk.  Individual Painting and Suggestions. Afternoon Group Critique.

Time:  9:30 – 4:00
Tuition:      $45 per day  


Sign up for as many sessions as you like.  If rain cancels a session,
you may reschedule for any other date.  
All other cancellations must be made five days before a scheduled lesson to obtain a full refund.

Minimum class size:  3
Maximum class size: 10
